Heads of Planning Scotland respond to new Housing Planning Hub

Following the announcement of a new Scottish Government Housing Planning Hub, Heads of Planning Scotland have committed to working with Ministers  to ensure that all Planning authorities are involved in its development going forward and build on the excellent work done by Planning Authorities.

“It is important that the work of the Hub recognises  that housebuilding delays referred to by the Scottish Government are not just delays in the planning system. Housing projects often receive planning consent only to face setbacks and delays in the delivery stage beyond the control of Planning Authorities. We would also like to see action to address this issue and would be pleased to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support this work. It is recognised by all that Planning has a key role in the delivery of quality housing and places.

We welcome the announcement on the increase of statutory planning fees to cover costs, particularly at this financially challenging time for the local government sector and the investment in the resource capacity of the planning profession.”
